The Lions Club of Waikerie was formed in 1972. They meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month during the year. Every 2nd Saturday of the month is their auction morning which is their major fundraiser. Outside catering is also provided and the catering van can be found at the auction mornings.

A couple of ongoing projects include their 203 road side clean-ups along the Sturt Highway and their annual Memory Lane afternoons during seniors week where they entertain many people.

A project they are working toward is to erect sails over the playground on the river front along with other play equipment.

The Waikerie Country Fire Service was established in 1947 by some concerned Waikerie residents to supply some fire cover for the town area.

The Waikerie CFS has grown from the humble beginnings of a water pump and trailer to now having five purpose built fire and rescue vehicles.

The brigade has 24 members, donating approx 6,000 to 6,500 hours per year for the benefit of Waikerie and the community.

Waikerie CFS attends on average 120 emergency call outs per year.

This association provides a way for local people to get involved in local environmental projects. Not only can you contribute to improving the precious River Murray, you can also learn a huge amount about your local area. From wetlands, to revegetation and efficient irrigation practices, Riverland West LAP covers it all.

The committee was formed and incorporated in 1995 and during this time has completed a range of interesting projects.

The committee meets once a month and visitors are always welcome. There are lots of jobs where volunteers can be of help, so if this type of work interests you please enquire and find out what current projects are being undertaken and how you can assist.

The Waikerie Bowling Club was established in 1925 and are proud of their facilities which includes a modern kitchen and bar. Great hospitality and recreation is offered to visitors and members alike.

Carnivals are held throughout the year and attract visitors from all around Australia. Due to the mild climate bowls are played throughout the whole year.

The program includes social bowls, mens and womens pennants and town bowls.

New members and visitors are always welcome and tuition is available from accreditted coaches.

Waikerie's home ground is the picturesque Waikerie Oval, down the bottom of the main street. In 2003 the Club won all 3 senior Grand Finals which is a rare achievement in the history of the Riverland Football League and was the first time in the Club's 90 year history.

The Clubrooms are available to hire for any type of function.The Clubrooms provide a quiet venue in a central locaion close to the town hotel and caravan park. The view over the oval and nearby river are superb. The Clubrooms offer full bar and kitchen facilities with the resident chef available to offer advice. Minimal hire and/or cleaning charges apply.

The Sports Centre boasts 8 hectares of pristine playing fields, catering for hockey, crickets, soccer, athletics, softball, touch football and special functions.

The fields are adjacent to 6 hard tennis courts, 2 netball/basketball courts, the grassed croquet courts, bowling club and swimming pool.

The focal point of the complex is the Recreation Centre consisting of a main stadium suitable for basketball, netball, indoor cricket, badminton, volleyball and roller skating. It has a fully equipped gym, three squash courts, group fitness classes and kiosk.

The Rex Coats Memorial Library opened in 1980 and is a great place to relax and browse. The library also has public Internet facilities.

Tourists are most welcome to join the library through a refundable book deposit scheme, and the library also houses tourist information in the foyer area. On display in the foyer is "The Strangman Banner" a unique historical banner handed down from the Strangman family.

The WHSI covers an area of 5182 square kilometres including Morgan, Cadell and Blanchetown and provides a range of services. These include acute hospital services, high & low residential aged care, community health, domiciliary care, day activity and outreach services and primary and preventative health care programs.

Also accident and emergency, obstetric and Level 1 medical/surgical services. Visiting surgeons specialising in Gynaecology, Urology, Orthopaedic and General Surgery perform Level 1 procedures on a monthly basis.

The Domiciliary Care provides community nursing services, paramedical aide and home help services. Dementia and Carer support is also available.

The clinic currently accommodates 5 full time GP's and 1 part time GP. The practice is computerised and is an accredited RACGP training practice and participates in the Flinders University PRCC program.

The business commenced on 1st July 1984 and from 1989 to January 1992 operated from the Waikerie Coachlines depot. From 1992 until 1999 the business was located in Lawrie Terrace. The desire for a more permanent site led them to Smith Drive where they operate from today.
