The Natural Bridge, also known as the Natural Arch, is the top attraction found in the thick rainforest of Springbrook National Park.

Nature Bridge, Gold Coast

Being one of Gold Coast’s most beautiful natural wonders formed right at the edge of a waterfall in the Numinbah Valley. The reason for this landmark’s popularity is its extraordinary erosion, forming a completely natural bridge over the pristine water.

How this Bridge formed

The Natural Bridge was formed by thousands of years of erosion. Erosion is a geological process in which rocks are slowly worn away by the natural forces of nature, such as wind, water, and sea spray. The erosion of the bridge occurred from the falling water of the upstream waterfall to the surrounding rock of this cave. The waterfall formed a pool by the scouring action of rocks, eventually breaking through the cave below, forming the famous archway we can see today.

How you can see the Natural Bridge

One of the best ways to explore the region and see the Natural Arch is by strolling along the Natural Bridge Circuit. An easy, one-kilometre circuit starts from the car park and travels through the greenery clockwise. The sealed route weaves its way through the thick rainforest region, letting you see the local plant life and the occasional wild animal, including getting a glimpse of some of the region’s oldest plant life, taking in hoop pines that date back almost 180 million years. Finally, the track will stop at the darken and tranquil landmark of the Cave Creek. Here, you can step inside this peaceful cave, enjoying the soft sound of the waterfall as you marvel at the impressive natural rock formation of the arch. If you visit at nighttime, you can see this ancient cave come to life with small filtering lights scatter along with the ceiling and walls. These are the glow worms of the Gold Coast, who created a natural glow through a chemical reaction in their bodies to attract prey. The softly glowing lights of the creatures create a truly enchanting sight, mesmerising visitors as they wander around the area.
